Final Fantasy X – Celestial Weapons! Whats/Where’s/How hard to get?

Celestial mirror, the key to this whole guide. Art by Rytellia

Celestial Weapons are easily the best weapons in the game that have the least amount of post game grinding. These weapons break through defenses naturally and all of then break damage limits. Here’s the quick of the where to find the weapons and the crests/Sigil as well as how hard it is to get them all.

Also! You must have the celestial mirror in order to get the weapons. None of the chests will open without.

Tidus – Calabolg

Obtained in the Calm Lands once you beat the trainer in a race, if you leave the area.

  • Difficulty to obtain the weapon: 2/5 (All you need to do is beat the trainer, not get a super awesome amazing score. If Chocobo racing isn’t your thing? Hike this score up more)
  • Difficulty to get Sun Crest: 1/5 – Hidden in a chest by where you beat Yunalesca
  • Difficulty to get Sun Sigil: 4/5 – This one also involves Chocobos, you have to not only beat the trainer, but get hit so little and get enough balloons that your time is 0:00.
  • Skills when fully evolved: Break Damage Limit / Triple Overdrive / Evade and Counter / Magic Counter

Yuna – Nirvana

Obtained in the Calm Lands once you have unlocked the Monster Arena. Capturing enough different types of fiends here unlocks the chest that has Nirvana.

  • Difficulty to obtain the weapon: 2/5 (Fairly easy, can be challenging with some of the fiends to capture. More running around/grinding than anything)
  • Difficulty to get the Moon Crest: 1/5 – Hidden in chest on beach of Besaid.
  • Difficulty to get the Moon Sigil: 3/5 – In Requiem Temple, hidden in Calm Lands, and you have to beat each of Belgemine’s Aeons.
  • Skills when fully evolved: Break Damage Limit / Triple Overdrive / Double AP / One MP Cast

Wakka – World Champion

Obtained in Luca after winning a Blitzball tournament. After your win, head to the bar that you attempted to find Auron during the story and talk to the barkeep.

  • Difficulty to obtain the weapon: 3/5 (Blitz can be a tad annoying if you have a weaker team. Brother is a must for center)
  • Difficulty to get the Jupiter Crest: 1/5 Hidden in the Aurochs locker room in the back locker.
  • Difficulty to get the Jupiter Sigil: 3/5 This is a reward in Blitzball Tournaments. If you don’t get it, you’ll have to win your way through more tournaments until it pops back up.
  • Skills when fully evolved: Break Damage Limit / Triple Overdrive / Double AP / Evade & Counter

Lulu – Onion Knight

Obtained in Baaj Temple after you unlock the airship. You may have to defeat the boss in the area first, but if you’re sneaky you may be able to swim the outskirts and grab it without triggering it.

  • Difficulty to obtain the weapon: 3/5 (Not too bad, easy if you avoid the boss)
  • Difficulty to get the Venus Crest: 1/5 By the entrance to the Farplane in Guadosalam but only after Seymour leaves during the normal storyline.
  • Difficulty to get the Venus Sigil: 5/5 Obtained when you dodge 200 lightning bolts in a row at the Thunder Plains.
  • Skills when fully evolved: Break Damage Limit / Triple Overdrive / Magic Booster / One MP Cost

Kimahri – Spirit Lance

Obtained in the Thunder Plains. The cactuar stones are the key to these, you need to pray to the cactuar stones three times to have the lance appear at a lightning rod tower. The third one is always a little elusive.

  • Difficulty to obtain the weapon: 2/5 (Fairly easy, but running around)
  • Difficulty to get the Saturn Crest: 1/5 Found on Mt Gagazet after you beat Seymour (yet again) hidden behind a pillar.
  • Difficulty to get the second component: Saturn Sigil: 3/5 Awarded from bird dude once you complete the Butterfly Catcher mini game in Macalania. You have to do both of the mini games and have to get all the blue butterflies in the time given. It is tedious to get the patterns down, but they always spawn in the same spots, so once you get it down you got it.
  • Skills when fully evolved: Break Damage Limit / Triple Overdrive / Double AP / Evade & Counter

Auron – Masamune

Obtained in the Mi’ihen Highroad, past the normal highroad in a small alcove. You’ll need to grab a rusty sword from outside the Cavern of the Hidden Fayth first!

  • Difficulty to obtain the weapon: 2/5 (Fairly easy, but running around)
  • Difficulty to get the Mars Crest: 1/5 Found in the Mushroom Road Road. If you beat the Chocobo Eater, it was found on the path going back up the road.
  • Difficulty to get the Mars Sigil: 3/5 Given as a reward from the Monster Arena for getting a total of 10 monsters in Area Conquests / Species Conquests. Easiest way to do this is after you have the airship, go back and get everything on the way back. It will take a hot minute, but you’ll get the Sigil that much easier!
  • Skills when fully evolved: Break Damage Limit / Triple Overdrive / First Strike / Counterattack

Rikku – Godhand

Obtained after you get the airship. In the password menu that Cid can present, enter GODHAND. The only chest there, hidden in the Mi’ihen Highroad, will be the Godhand.

  • Difficulty to obtain the weapon: 1/5 (Easy)
  • Difficulty to get the Mercury Crest: 2/5 Found in a Whirlpool in Bikanel Desert. Fairly certain there’s a creature guarding it that causes Confusion, only reason this is 2/5.
  • Difficulty to get the Mercury Sigil: 3/5 Found in a chest in the Cactuar Village once you clear out the sandstorm by bringing back the Cactuar Warriors. You do not need to do well on their mini game to get this.
  • Skills when fully evolved: Break Damage Limit / Triple Overdrive / Double AP / Gillionaire

Once you have the Crests and Sigil, you can take them with weapon and Celestial Mirror in to Macalania Woods to the power ups. Some of these, like Lulu’s Sigil, are a little hard to get. Lulu and Tidus were the two I always have trouble with. I always tell myself I will do it next time and put the time in to make sure it’s done properly and I always get frustrated.
