Animal Crossing – Farming Tactics!

Bells on bells on bells on bells.. Art by Rytellia

When a new game comes out, it can be hard to get the new farming tactics down to make sure you have the most of everything! Going through my first couple of days in this game was tricky because I was under the impression you were only able to be on your island and your friends islands. Here’s what I’ve learned when it comes to getting all the bells!

Flick and CJ are super helpful!

Now, everyone knows that Timmy and Tommy make Nook’s Cranny to buy all the items in the world once you get through the basics of the game. There are other people who come in to sell as well: Flick and CJ. Flick will buy bugs and CJ will buy fish. The extra little catch with these two? They will do it at a higher cost than Timmy and Tommy! If you have the storage space and don’t mind waiting, they will buy at 1.5 times the amount you would get if you wanted to be fast.

Keep trying for those rare fish/bugs!

Combined with the first tip, you can make bank super fast if you have a stockpile of super rare bugs! I’m not talking every one in the game, but if you can find a Tarantula / Scorpion island while using Nook Mile Tickets? You’ll make some serious bells faster than you’d believe!

Fruit for the online players.

If you’re one who has the Nintendo yearly subscription to go online and have a friend who also has the game, taking your fruit that’s native on your island and selling it elsewhere? That can earn you some serious loan-dents. Also, you can buy up fruit from their island and sell it on yours if you’re looking for a small profit. It’s only like 100 per fruit profit, but it’s better than nothing!

Hot Items! Sell ‘em while you can!

Crafting is so tremendously huge in this game. Pretty much every aspect requires you to have lots of recipes, lot of materials, and lots of patience. If you have those, you can rack up bells like no one’s business. Every day, Nook’s Cranny will offer at least one ‘Hot Item’ that is in your DIY books that is double it’s normal cost. Now these can be as simple as a campfire, which still won’t be a whole heck of a lot, or as robust as major fountains or wallpapers, which will be a lot more involved but so much more worth it. If you continue making and selling these, you’ll find yourself raking in the bells.

Turnips – Ready to play the Stalks?

Once you have Nook’s Cranny, you’ll find every Sunday Morning, you’ll have a small little visitor with a turnip on her head. This is Daisy Mae and she will sell you turnips! Now, you can buy as many as you’d like, but there’s a catch! If you do not sell them back to the little Nooklings, they will rot! It’s in your best interest to check your Nook’s Cranny turnip prices every day and also have your friends check too! You’re not required to sell them on only your island!
